Tears of joy flooded the streets of London on Sunday, as workers gathered spontaneously to celebrate the arrival in government of two universally popular young people.

The new appointees are not even 80 years old, which of course makes them totally relatable to twentysomething voters.

The government has announced that more spontaneous celebrations will be held throughout the week.

Provided by @altbot, generated privately and locally using Gemma4:26b

@2legged A collage with a thick red border containing three distinct photographic sections. The top photograph shows a group of people with arms raised among pink and white flowers. Centered in the middle, white text reads, "Workers celebrate youth leaders". The bottom left features a close-up portrait of a person with grey hair and a dark jacket. The bottom right features a close-up portrait of a person with short, light-colored hair wearing a blue jacket and a dark top.

@altbot @2legged posted just to prove how AI generated alt-text can be so amazingly contextually unaware?
If you can't see the images then the actual human written alt-text is of course far more informative

@marjolica it seem that you misunderstand the purpose of @altbot: to assist the poster in creating alt text. What you call "the actual human-wrItten alt-text" here is in fact a human-edited version of the AI.

In this case, altbot did 90% of the work, leaving me only to add the names. That's a huge time-saver for me.

Please don't criticise this useful tool.

@2legged @altbot sorry, it wasn't clear that it was you (Claire) who prompted the alt-bot to get a first draft that you then refined. Usually they are posted by someone else who thinks the original poster has forgotten to add one. In any case very honest of you to also show your working.
If it was me I would have just written the alt-text directly - don't use alt-bot, don't use generative AI, full stop: still trying hard to keep the brain cell working in old age. FWIW I think my version would have been much shorter and to the point.

@marjolica No prob. I subscribe to @altbot, but it may work in other ways. Tho I wasn't aware it had a nag mode,

And I am definitely going to keep using @altbot. Many of the images I use are complex, so writing good alt text is v time-consuming. The bot hugely eases that tedious clerical task, leaving my time and creativity free for the substance of my toots -- which are all written without AI.

I bet "Years of joy" was meant to be "Tears of joy, though.

                  @Walrus Yes. Typo corrected. Thanks.

But that's a product of my declining eyesight, rather the flaws of AI.

                    Glad to help.

Well, actually, it's compulsive. And quite a lot of the recipients get rather nasty about it, which still always surprises me.

@Walrus The "how dare you help me make my post say what i intended to say" brigade. πŸ˜…

It's a very simple test of maturity.
