@toffo ha well there's going to be a lull after today...will be a month before release (maybe a video before?) so plenty of time for you...but not usually a good idea to rush your stuff either way.
cool to hear you've got some new stuff incoming tho, i like a lot of what you've shared.

@tsrono cheers! quite a lot of stuff is in the works lately

not rushing anything at all, will see if i have the time to release it b4 boc - i just got a new drum machine and i want to redo some stuff using it just cos i feel its gonna be better

@zweikreise ha i think he announced that last week but i get ya yeah...could be good timing in that sense if he's got his new one on the front page beside BOC's traffic numbers today...

@tsrono i should've taken a screencap but i was on the bandcamp front page like an hour ago and the whole "just sold" section was just the new record, i'd never seen that before. so yeah they are for sure driving a lot of traffic both to bleep and bandcamp.

@toffo oh killer on a new drum machine, i think you'd mentioned some time back you were lacking there.
just don't take something ridiculous like 13 years to finalize it, yknow? who does that...

@zweikreise someone at Bleep will one day sort out how to properly prepare their site for expected surges like that. they haven't yet, after 15 or so years of crashes on big release days...but one day. maybe.

@tsrono yep, now should be better cos ry20 is almost like a less complex r8 feelings wise haha
no modulation recording though but i can live without that now + i found out some info about its chipset so it has some potential for FW modsyeah never ever saw anyone doing an album for so long! how can anyone even think about that? totally bonkers

@zweikreise @tsrono I was just saying to someone yesterday that if BoC are releasing a new album and the release date comes out, they should ask the label to move it if it's close.

Literally no point if your stuff is remotely adjacent lol. However, one can't predict an *announcement*!

@Cognessence @tsrono actually the new clark single slaps, he's so underrated it kind of drives me up the wall.

@zweikreise @tsrono not pushing back / disagreeing per se, as I don’t know exactly - for some reason my impression was that he is quite popular! I guess relative to the accessibility / directness of some of his new music he’s not as big as some people I know in similar zones. And it’s true there was much more hype around releases like ‘Body Riddle’ iirc - but I was younger then, and obviously those were the Warp days (seems he’s not with them anymore…)

@Cognessence @zweikreise personally i find his stuff to be hit or miss for me. i can't say i've been into any of the soundtrack stuff he's done but not listened to much...& only the occasional album/EP. but those i gel with are very good.
i much respect that sorta thing tho...he's trying what he wants & doing different things, that's awesome. i don't want him or anyone to just churn out the style/s i personally like.

@tsrono @zweikreise I’m kind of with you, to be honest. Don’t want to be one of those “their first album was best!” people - but generally I connected and still connect a lot more to albums 2 - 4 (‘Empty the Bones of You’ to ‘Totem’s Flare’) than anything I’ve heard since. However, will check out this new track zweikreise mentioned for sure, as I trust zweikreise’s taste and am always open to having a change of heart.

(He’s also said some very strange, absolutist things about music in interviews. Like this:
“I have this theory that modulating the key on a synth just sounds really cringey. It sounds like you’re doing music theory. Diatonic simple shapes suit electronic music so well.
Synths came out of musique concrète, hip-hop, disco – they’re not functional harmony machines. Whereas a piano can go through nine keys in three bars and it just works. ‘Who Booed the Goose’ stretches that. It’s harmonically busy, but to me it sounds natural. Long chord sequences in electronic music can be eye-rolly, but for that track it worked.”
Clark on friendly parasites and why music needs friction - CDM Create Digital Music
On the heels of Steep Stims, Clark's latest full-length, we spoke at length about piano delusions, seriousness and play, film scoring, repetition, hardware, live performance, and the strange necessity of cultivating “friendly parasites” in the creative process.

To me this is…off on multiple fronts. But I’ll stop myself here.

)@Cognessence ah, i forgot about that interview...tbh, i hear what he's saying about the key modulation thing if i understand it correctly. it can sound very...artificial, i guess. cringey is maybe farther than i'd say. but it's just his opinion at the end of the day, he's not dictating anything anyone else does. that's fine.
but i haven't listened to those recent albums of his so can't comment there. i should give them a shot.
