Well, the European Commission has announced the intention to put forward a legislative proposal to make this kind of thing possible. It’s especially important that your passenger rights get covered should a train be delayed and have you miss a connection in another country.
It’s called multimodal digital mobility services, or #MDMS (which sounds like some kind of drug lol) and is about connecting more than just #trains.@hpod16 @radundtat

Legislative proposals take the time they take and honestly my info on this is out of date. I’m going to have to talk to some colleagues who are transport experts@hpod16 Thanks, this is a great answer. I hope it works and happens in my lifetime.

@hpod16 I love trains as well, especially as, traveling with dogs, it's necessary. I'd love to know more about traveling with pets, as it's a nightmare finding the right information, sometimes. We're going to hike in Sweden, this summer, from Italy, and it took so much time to figure out the best solution

Why is that? Why are train routes so often determined by national borders, when we are supposed to have free movement in the EU?
This is especially relevant for night trains, where many routes have been cancelled or not been started because they are nationally controlled. This is a major barrier to trade and movement.

There's just the one line between Lisbon and Madrid, no other stops (I live 3 hours from Lisbon). And the line has been broken for years now. I drive 3 hours to Spain instead and take the train from there. Also, missing a competent website to plan the journey, especially when crossing countries. Competitive pricing is another big issue. How can I promote/advocate for EU rail in Portugal?
