Tennessee is delighted that I'm back home after two and a half days away. Unfortunately, he shows this in part by climbing on my chest to get petting and treats multiple times a day — including when I'm trying to sleep.
And since he has wrapped around his little paw, of course I give in and give him that petting and those treats.

@sprockxyz He *is* indeed gorgeous. I can't claim credit for the name; his prior owner, who became too sick to care for him, named him that after the cartoon Tennessee Tuxedo. Since he had that name for ten years, and it's a good name, I certainly wasn't going to change it.

@jeridansky both my cats also kept their names when I adopted them! my older one is named Morello; her and her littermates were all named after different kind of cherries. how could I change a name like that?
i only remember one of her brothers' names: Lapins, whom i unfortunately did not also adopt -
