@NorcalGma2 I've noticed the increase in cost of raw ingredients also! I'm glad I invested in a bin that can hold (I think) 50lbs of flour, which I get at Costco. I've been trying my hand at sourdough for a few years (I jumped on that bandwagon long after the trend passed) and now can't eat store-bought bread.

    @madgeface
I only buy bread for the free pantry.
I bake it occasionally but we don't eat very much bread.
I buy my flour and sugar at Costco.
    Butter and cream too.
Good vanilla and all the spices are up as is Ghirardelli chocolate.
Baking is therapeutic for me so we end up giving more away than we keep.

@NorcalGma2 I love baking also; because of that great aunt, for a while in 3rd-4th grade I had a subscription to Gourmet magazine. These days my guys are all grown. My youngest graduates from college on Friday and will boomerang home for a while - he's my baker and always has room for desserts.

        Oh my.
Between my husband and I we ate a quarter of the pie for dessert.
        It was still warm.
        So good.
Hopefully I can muster some restraint before it looks good for breakfast tomorrow too.

@NorcalGma2 Another quarter for breakfast tomorrow sounds very restrained, if you ask me.

@NorcalGma2 add a piece of cheddar cheese and it's a complete meal with fiber, carbs, protein...

I've been craving lemon meringue in graham cracker crust. I hardly ever make things like that for myself, especially lemon meringue doesn't keep very well. I should see if any of my friends like it. Some people don't (!) . It was a favorite when I baked in restaurants.

I love lemon meringue and used to bake them to sell for charity event auctions. A coworker bought a 9" pie and ate the whole thing in one sitting.
One of my favorites but I always use my regular butter crust.

@NorcalGma2 my wife had a farming ancestor on the Great Plains that had a pie and a pork chop every day to fuel their work β€” that was it! If the pies were as good as yours looks, I can see how it would make a good breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

@NorcalGma2 The way it looks makes me think that its chances of surviving the night in our house would not be so good.
