@Blender The new version eliminates a "Welcome." I think we were all hoping you would eliminate the sponsor.

Blood money, made by proudly supporting maiming and killing.
Removed Blender from our list of recommended FLOSS.

Cool. Another great open source project chasing after the elusive snake oil grift. Vibe code your own demise.

@Blender I genuinely don't think that "yeah we don't like what they want to do with Blender either but it's important for software freedom that we take their sponsorship and promote their brand" is a good argument.
Yes, free software means that anyone can do what they like with it, but I don't think that it has to mean that you have to actively enable uses that are "not aligned with your mission". Not even if you get money for it, and not even if other uses benefit from it too. -

It's not about influence on code.
How many Palestinian or Iranian babies needed to have their brains sprayed across concrete rubble in order for Anthropic to pay for 2 blender developers?

@Blender you know, Blender...dirty money is dirty. no amount of rewording is going to fix that. there's no lawyerly way you're wriggling out of this mistake.
You've aligned yourself with destroyers.

@Blender not helping

@Blender Some of the most miserable news I've heard out of software lately.
Taking the US Military Industrial Complex's blood money is reason enough to switch tools.
Giving corporate AI slop-peddlers influence over what features the devs are to prioritize doesn't give me faith in the tool's future either.
Fucking shameful.

> Taking the US Military Industrial Complex's blood money is reason enough to switch tools.
Taking resources away from bad organizations is a good thing. If the only thing the US MIC gets from Blender is "legitimacy", I'm fine with that. We can reassess if/when the US MIC's legitimacy is less universal.
> Giving corporate AI slop-peddlers influence over what features the devs are to prioritize
Yeah, that's not good. The slop peddlers are just going to make things worse while illegally extracting all they can from the commons.

@Blender "oh no it's cool guys they will only be working on our internal code, totally not stealing art and ideas" that's ok then, it's only the same Anthropic who deleted all of PocketOS including their backup code
