@sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee you could definitely record audio on the Series 5, Series 7, and netBook. I've still got my Psion netBook here…it's ace because the OS is stored in RAM, so you can boot Linux on it (I think there's even a BSD for it as well).

@sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee I think it's more genius because the original is burned into my brain, and the remix just completely fucks with your expectation. But yeah, there are definitely people that prefer DOOM with the OPL soundtrack rather than the Roland SC-55 soundset

@sean_ae @Cognessence @elifyalvac @Rushup_Dee Well, I say you could record audio on them; it's much like the SK1, with a built-in mic. I can't remember what fidelity it was, but it was definitely usable for voice notes.

There’s a few GM sounds I like, like the PMA-5 was GM but had a lot of Roland character, R8 sounds and whatnot
But this stuff is just really icky - millennials will get teary eyed over it and I’m like

" this made me lol out loud (thread has been doing that a lot, glad I'm not snickering at a screen while bad GM sounds pipe out with any onlookers.)Not sure it's just nostalgia though; something so disturbingly "nothing" and pure ugly about those sounds that is really alluring now. But as a kid I hated them and hooked up the MIDI to an external module.
