    @Nickiquote so the green party want to treat drugs as a medical issue and the DM call that pro-drugs

    What are they calling pro-porn ?

    @sean

    This, apparently, although the Mail are not publishing the apparently secret policy document so you can read it for yourself.

      @Nickiquote

      Doesn't it ever make people feel small to be this easy to rile up?

      Like this is so ham handed. It's that "he might take your cookie, mate!" meme.

      Maybe I have too much faith in people, but even if they have ideas about immigration I don't agree with ... shouldn't it feel bad to see people being so obvious in their manipulation. IDK.

      I suppose it might be easier to see with the distance of an ocean between myself and this paper. We do of course have it over here too.

        @futurebird There is a regular Viz comic strip called “The Male Online” which is about a stereotypical Mail reader, in a constant state of spitting fury about immigrants and woke. Unfortunately it’s not too far off what a small proportion of the population are like.

          @Nickiquote Why does the "Beware the Green Menace" sign in the middle remind me of Nazi propaganda posters from the 30s? 🤔

          I also wonder how adopting policies that focus on real world harm reduction, instead of creating a fostering environment for black markets counts as pro-drugs. 🤷‍♀️

            I've seen variants of this trope circulating in various European countries since the 90s.

              @Nickiquote Time once again to tap the 'there's no such thing as illegal migration unless the migrant has individually been found to have breached a law and then failed to leave the country within the designated period' sign. Someone who arrives here irregularly will have their case assessed and the majority are given leave to remain, etc etc etc.

              Still, if the Mail are terrified of the Greens, that must be a good sign, right? They wouldn't have bothered otherwise.

                    @futurebird @Nickiquote I wonder the same thing all the time! And this paper has been doing it for *decades.* The entire time I lived in London, you couldn't get in a black cab without the driving immediately reeling off Daily Heil headlines at you, and then preening themselves on their quality cockney cab banter

                          @Nickiquote the weird thing is how views have diverged so far that people take opposite meanings from the same thing

                          Their article includes a video of Zack being perfectly normal and reasonable in a way that presumably gets DM readers riled up in anger

                            @capnthommo @Nickiquote I'm really not sure they've thought through the impact of tagging the Greens as pro porn and pro drugs, I suspect there's a strong segment of their readership who will respond with "how do I vote for the pro drugs pro porn party?"
