There’s a few GM sounds I like, like the PMA-5 was GM but had a lot of Roland character, R8 sounds and whatnot
But this stuff is just really icky - millennials will get teary eyed over it and I’m like

" this made me lol out loud (thread has been doing that a lot, glad I'm not snickering at a screen while bad GM sounds pipe out with any onlookers.)Not sure it's just nostalgia though; something so disturbingly "nothing" and pure ugly about those sounds that is really alluring now. But as a kid I hated them and hooked up the MIDI to an external module.

Oh no I have to stop right there now. Sean - never tried that groovebox for gameboy. that pink parrot thing looks and sounds cool. haha i like their subscription note

no tears! I think it is beyond nostalgia but I won’t advertise and link my thesis lol but I think the idea is the value of these goes beyond that nostalgia link. @sean_ae @oscillik @Rushup_Dee -

It's not *quite* GM sounds — it sounds very evocative of them, while being a bit cleaner and more interesting than pure GM sounds.
As far as age, I am squarely millennial (33 y/o).

@sean_ae @elifyalvac @oscillik @Cognessence Besides the authentic, 8-bit sample-playback is a very sophisticated sequencer. Some of the features I wish would be ported to current elektron boxes! Step-jump, step-push, direction, and some hidden stuff, too.
