@shoq Re: Research ~ Since I live in a turbulent weather zone, I'm monitoring 2 weather apps and a few news sources. The state has had over 100 tornadoes this year.

@shoq it's pretty hard to tell... I can estimate how many apps I use, but the number of pairs of apps in daily switches it's another thing

@shoq 0 most days. When I'm at home I use a real computer. When I'm out it's usually for a reason, I'm usually doing things. I might play with apps on my phone in a waiting room for a medical appointment, that's about it. Oh, apart from a large banking transaction where the app insists on taking a photo of me.

@shoq Calendar, email, text, social media x2, camera, cross-platform notes app, two different browsers, and then one of more of the following most days: Libby (library app), Tidal (music, because fuck Spotify), Waze, banking, OurGroceries (shared grocery list), Life360 (see where the heck my bride is – if she's thrifting or at Habitat ReStore I know I'm responsible for making dinner again if I want to eat before 9).

I will on average only switch between 4 apps.
Newpipe(YouTube player), web browser, RSS feed & 2FA.Once I want to do something like share an image it climbs to 6.
I want to share that PNG but it's too big & weighs too much.
Resize resolution -10% in FOSS Gallery.Toss it to FFShare to convert to webp & compress 1.5 MB PNG down to 70-120 KBs with minimal loss.
To reply to calls & messages it's up to 9 between call manager, sms messaging & signal.

@shoq 0 in my case: at home I use a desktop with its big, easily-seen-by-my-older-eyes monitor. When I'm out, I only use the phone for calls or because I need to receive a text. Assuming I remembered to charge it this month.

@shoq Mine isn't so much social, it's the information apps I need... Like Email, Calendar, Notes, Weather, Health tracker, but social-wise, typically only two.

Niggle: it's not research, but it could be interesting #anecdata. Just don't read too much into it.
I've said a few times that all Fedi posts containing polls that say "boost for better sample" (or "research" here, similar) should be required to have one of the response options be "DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN".
