'The Justice Department's plan aims to "strengthen the death penalty"'
Because just executing someone isn't enough? Are they planning to execute them twice?

Or... are they going to reinstate hanging, drawing and quartering? Because it hurts more?
These motherfuckers are monsters.

@Remittancegirl Options now include firing squad, electrocution, lethal injection. I’m afraid of what they could add to that disgusting list - pay to view? It wouldn’t surprise me at all. These people are psychotic monsters.

@Remittancegirl
I have been told by people who consider the blunt end of a gun to be 'fun', that you always know if you fired a 'blank'.
I've never seen the blunt end of a gun, so I wouldn't know. -

@Remittancegirl To defenestrate the "deterrence" bullshit, what deters crime is the probability of being caught. Without that, being broken on the wheel, really is irrelevant.

@Remittancegirl I refer the honourable gentle-sewer (sewing-person, even) to my comment of a moment ago re: detection.

@Remittancegirl based on the state of our economy, can we afford the bullets?

@horqua Oh, I think history shows that no matter how dire the US gets economically, they can always find the money for bullets.

@Remittancegirl Pharmaceutical companies have become reluctant to sell lethal injection drugs (generally muscle relaxants and sedatives) to American prison agencies. Executions were being held up. Bullets, however, are not in short supply.
I'm just surprised they didn't go back to hanging or the electric chair.

@cstross I think they are going back to the electric chair - not hanging, though, yet.
The pleasure of enjoying killing is pretty strong with them.

@Remittancegirl Rule 2.

@AnguaDelphine @Remittancegirl Isn’t that gassing people? Hmm, sounds familiar to relatively recent historical facts. These are the very same people who claim other societies are barbaric when they execute people deemed criminal in some way. The laws and behaviours of this US administration is coming very close to that of the societies they talk of occupying and controlling, including how they treat women and minorities.
-
@Remittancegirl The USA was founded on killing.
The USA was built on killing.
The USA is still fixated on killing.
Killing is not just what Murica does. Killing is what America is.

@HarriettMB @AnguaDelphine I'm not sure the ways of killing matters that much to me. It's killing. I am very strongly against capital punishment. It can't be corrected or addressed ever if mistakes have been made.
What made me cringe was this 'strengthening' of the death penalty. Like, is there a way to murder people that results in less dead?

@Remittancegirl @AnguaDelphine I’m in complete agreement with you. Any death penalty is barbaric and wrong. All death penalties don’t stop people committing crimes, so it’s never a deterrent. It’s a bully power that gets extended to cover anyone who disagrees with the Dear Leader of the moment.
-
@skyfire747 @Remittancegirl @AnguaDelphine They won’t. This is the second time Trump reinstated the death penalty, and he’s extending it this time. Former associated countries really need to isolate and distance themselves from the USA and Israel, and a few others asap.

@cstross @Remittancegirl I hear from my marksman friend that bullets are also getting quite expensive.

@Remittancegirl @cstross why do we think he's building the grand ballroom and bunker (dungeon)? I foresee some spectacular (and possibly bloody) shows for paying audiences...
