Everyone needs to cancel all their subscriptions, move off of their media (meta, xitter, linkedin, google, etc.) and do everything they can to take away the revenue streams of those who built this fascist empire. Any support for one of them is a vote for their policies. Standing in the streets does nothing to hurt them. It does however hurt all the local businesses. And, I suspect, that is exactly what they want.

From where I sit, I don’t think it’s a trap. It’s been clear for a while that they’re digging themselves deeper in a hole the longer they keep doing what they’ve been doing, and that they’re going to need to declare “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” so they can switch to some different awful thing.
However, this is very much a “don’t let your guard down” moment. They’re gearing up for some different horrible thing. They’re not disappearing.

I think it's a trap, but I'm far away.

@inthehands I admire your optimism and take here. I agree that they're in the consolidation phase. I think they also used this exercise to evaluate response and how the courts, etc. would react to future power-grabs. I look for a big ICE build-up and strikes in the ~six weeks before the midterms to try to destabilize the election and consolidate power.
I think y'all have set a great example for the rest of the country. I wish I could buy you all a beer and hug all the people who have done the needful and displayed the kind of bravery that the U.S. used to be famous for.

unless you want to have a hot civil war, being the streets and fucking up government function and commerce is, historically, the number one thing for a civilian population to do to succeed without war. but hey, who knows, maybe ignoring history and "quitting facebook" will actually be the ticket somehow.
