Because the British haven't done enough harm introducing red foxes around the world, they are now taking them to release in Pakistan.

Because the British haven't done enough harm introducing red foxes around the world, they are now taking them to release in Pakistan. Pakistan already has red foxes, but they aren't good enough for the aristocratic British fox killers. So the "better thans" are introducing novel genes from the UK into Pakistan red foxes, for no good reason and for bad ecological health reasons.

@NMBA Red Foxes are native to large parts of the world - most of North America, Europe, Asia and parts of Africa, and are regarded as 1 species. Sure some local genes will have been introduced, and this can be disruptive, but appears not to have been. Sure, they were introduced to Australia, which is a string of disastrous British introductions.
But the real story - in a disgracefully partisan far right paper - is the reintroduction of British foxhunters abroad as the habitat in UK is no longer suitable for these monsters.

@NovaNaturalist
One species comprised of many subspecies that are genetically distinct. So the anthropogenic introduction of novel and not locally adapted genes is like genetic pollution. There's also a risk of disease introductions.Canada made a similar mistake introducing plains bison to Wood Buffalo NP because we failed to recognize there are two bison subspecies.
We should really just stop moving wildlife around the globe for our designer needs, and only do it for rewildling and captive breeding.
