Poll ended. n=102, 82% don't want car data extraction, 3% are fine with it. I've long maintained there's a serious market for dumb new cars (I'm in that market). I'm not sure there are any of those anymore, although as of a few years ago Jeep still had at least one. Car makers have presumably concluded they profit more from the data extraction than they would by giving customers a car they want. Consumer abuse is expected to expand into subscriptions for things cars always did. Also I've heard of a new requirement for cars to have a killswitch (?) which would mean that an unconnected car simply couldn't be manufactured.

I'm thinking that the Slate has some promise as an EV without an infotainment system. Not sure if it will have other connectivity or not, information is sparse.
No way of knowing if it will actually make it to production, I'm not holding my breath.
