Poll ended. n=102, 82% don't want car data extraction, 3% are fine with it. I've long maintained there's a serious market for dumb new cars (I'm in that market). I'm not sure there are any of those anymore, although as of a few years ago Jeep still had at least one. Car makers have presumably concluded they profit more from the data extraction than they would by giving customers a car they want. Consumer abuse is expected to expand into subscriptions for things cars always did. Also I've heard of a new requirement for cars to have a killswitch (?) which would mean that an unconnected car simply couldn't be manufactured.
