I've long maintained there's a serious market for dumb new cars (I'm in that market). I'm not sure there are any of those anymore, although as of a few years ago Jeep still had at least one. Car makers have presumably concluded they profit more from the data extraction than they would by giving customers a car they want. Consumer abuse is expected to expand into subscriptions for things cars always did.
