Has Spring nearly sprung in your hemisphere? Then it's time to think of your local birds!🧹 [Edited to remove meanness] Unaware people near you cleared away leaves and debris last Fall, leaving precious little building material for our feathered engineers.
You can help by taking a little time to make available twigs, last year's dead slender plant leaves, even natural fiber string and yarn. This will help reverse the bird declines we are seeing globally. More nests mean more chicks - and more bird song!

@joewynne also, visit a local horse and give 'm a good brush. Then take the hair from the brush and put it in an empty bird-feeder. Great nest material!

@joewynne one of the best things we can do is leave a patch of bare earth and keep it damp during nesting season. Not particularly difficult in the UK this spring, finding dry soil would be harder, but it's one of those little things that goes a long way for a multitude of species.
Thanks for reminding me to check our, very damp, garden so I can remove all the dangerous stuff the winter has bought to keep our local nesting sites safe
