#PennedPossibilities 975.1 — Author / Artist POV: Sometimes we end up In the Zone. Do you work until you drop? Or to a stopping point? Can you do anything but sleep afterwards?

A great big "thank you" to @sfwrtr for this prompt.

I'm usually pretty good about this. I never "work until I drop," and I always feel like I know the stopping point. Having MS, I've learned to know my body pretty well. I know what I need. But if I still have ideas after I've stopped writing for the day, I'll jot them down on my phone. Sometimes, I'll be writing late at night and then head to bed right afterward. I'll be lying in bed, and I'm suddenly flooded with ideas. I'll just roll over, groan in annoyance, and reach for my phone to scribble things down for the following day or whenever.

There's no better feeling than being in the zone. When the muse comes a'knocking, we can't ignore it!

#PennedPossibilities 976 — What aspect of your SC’s personality are they most insecure about?

Hati both loves and loathes how outspoken (and brave) she is. It gets her into trouble a lot. Think about it this way… This story takes place in 1890, and she’s a woman. It was a scary combination for the time period, just being a woman who’s filled with courage and has a voice that she’s willing to use.

Isma: Yes. This one is obvious. He travels everywhere.
Duncan: He has. To London. (He was Jack the Ripper.)
Hati: Never.
Samuel: Never.
Jonathan: He hasn’t.
Eleanor: She has, but only to America for a holiday. She was much younger.

#PennedPossibilities 982 — For characters with a significant other, what is their happiest shared memory?

For Fenella and Alistair, it’s time spent in the library. Wrapped up in one another on the sofa, both of them reading, a fire warming the room from the hearth, et cetera. Memories like those have withstood the test of time for the pair. If they’re lucky, they might end up together again before the end. (As of right now, they’re only friends but were lovers for a long time.)

For Samuel and Hati, it was the day he realized they could be mates. They talk about it now and have a laugh. He caught her scent and they made eye contact at a party on the Winnter Solstice. They drank, talked about anything and everything, realized how similar they were, and became friends. Much later, they became more, once she realized it as well (that they were meant to be mates, that is).

#PennedPossibilities 983 — MC POV: If you had been able to choose, would you rather have been an only child or part of a very large family?

Alistair: I can’t remember my childhood, not anymore. I don’t know if I was an only child or one of many. It’s a depressing thought. But if I had to choose, and if in this scenario I was still a mortal, I would say that to come from a rather large family sounds comforting and I would lean towards that option. The more, the merrier. In the end, yes, I would rather have siblings aplenty.

Alistair feels his safest when he’s at home ensconced in his castle. That’s his place of refuge. Dorcha Castle will always be the safest place in the world for he and Fenella, for Duncan, Caden, Hati and Samuel, et cetera. They all feel the same way.
