    Heads up to fellow #Canadian authors! Want to be part of something BIG? Submissions just opened for the first-ever Canada Fiction Fest! Check out the author FAQ on the site for info on how to be a part of it. Event takes place June 21st - July 5th!

    I have basically been working 2 full time jobs for the past month getting this ready for submissions, and recruited some other author friends to help test everything, and it is going to be SO COOL. If you're a Canadian fiction author (any age category, including picture books and graphic novels) who does NOT use AI, we'd love to have you join us!

      @npt_writes This is a great idea.

      But although I neither write nor read it, I am surprised by "ANY fiction [oh, except erotica]" which seems like more of an American (Puritan) thing to me.

        @alan As explained in the FAQ, including erotica would adversely affect our marketing opportunities, to the detriment of ALL the other books, and there are already *many* other opportunities out there that cater to that specific genre to the exclusion of all others.

        The dividing line we've gone with for Fiction Fest is that graphic sex scenes are fine as long as they further plot or character development and aren't the whole point of the book. All authors need to declare a "spice level" for submitted books so that readers can filter the showcase according to their own preferences.

          @npt_writes Cool. Two things:
          1) Although I'm sure you have ten times more work to do that's more important, you might want to mention that spice level in the author FAQ.

          2) I'm curious as to which marketing opportunities would be affected by this.
