I think it's rather rooted in the common arrogant USamerican picture of themselves as being superior to everything and everyone "best country in the world" partly out of #whitesupremacy partly out of lack of education (on purpose). He is (just) a poster example of both.
So with him apparently greedy power "gone lose", lawless, reckless.

Edit: He is not someone with an ideology but only a greedy, stupid narcissist. And that's why he is such a useful tool for some. #steve_bannon

100% agree with this. We in Europe need to put pressure on our politicians too. Even though there are some that have called US actions illegal, and nobody is jumping at the chance to fight Trump's war, there's not really much of a response coming from us either.
