@fergycool I wrote drivers for Mac OS8. I think OS9 had a similar driver setup, but I don't have an environment to build that code, or I might offer to write it for you. Perhaps someone here can find it. Good luck!

@vga256 @misty Their drivers downloads were mostly HTTP link and have been archived. But the Mac OS9 iSight driver was still a beta and I can only find FTP links to it. Also their Mac OS9 IIDC drivers are also FTP links only. I’ve given all the Mac OS9 drivers I can download a try, with no luck!

@fergycool would the IIDC OS9 driver be of any help to you? I *did* manage to find that one yesterday:

@vga256 Nice one! I looked, but failed, to find that one! You have better “finding obscure stuff” skills than me! I will give it a go now!

@vga256 So no video but progress! I've been testing video from the webcam with BTV 5.4.1. Up to now it immediately complains there's no video hardware. Even with all the other drivers I have tried. But now it shows a white box! If I unplug the iSight then it instead complains there's no video hardware. Secondly I'm now getting “shareware nags" from the IOXperts driver saying it’s unlicensed. If I unplug the iSight then I get no reminders. So I’m sure it's recognising the iSight.

@fergycool no way! that is fantastic! i should have sent the driver yesterday when I found it - i just assumed it wasn't related to the isight due to the filename.

@vga256 I did not think it would work, however, @Eggfreckles pointed me to a different driver for a different webcam which said it supported all IIDC webcams. I checked and supposedly the iSight supports the IIDC specification too! Unfortunately that did not work. So I tried to look for the IOXperts IIDC Mac OS 9 driver but I could not get it! But you did so thank you! I just need a mount now for my monitor! 🙂

Bit of a long shot but I’m looking (again!) for a Mac OS9 driver for the FW iSight webcam. It was not supported until OSX by Apple. But IOXperts did a beta driver that I'm guessing does support it (I think!). Unfortunately archive.org does not archive FTP and that's the only links I can find. I've been through all the other drivers and it's just “iSight1.1b26.sit” that I cannot find. I've just spent an hour trawling through Hotline servers with no luck! https://web.archive.org/web/20080623093642/http://lists.ioxperts.com/pipermail/video-beta-discuss/2003-October/000015.html

@colinstu @DosFox Yup. I've tried that one a few times. The ones that say they support iSight on Mac OS9 are only beta drivers and they used FTP instead of HTTP links which have not been archived by WBM. But @vga256 found the IIDC beta driver. I can confirm that it does work! There's also a iSight1.1b26.sit file that remains unfound! Although no idea what extra functionality that offers over the IIDC ones.

@vga256 Just had another trawl without any success. But did find that it looks like the betas went up to IOXIIDC9-1.1b30.sit Although there's no sign it was ever released.
