    The upside is you would get to work on something that really matters and makes a net positive contribution to the world.

    The downside: you'd have to work with me.

      @rysiek no way! Did you know that Nadia was briefly CEO of Q9?

          @rysiek That's two upsides. I regret I do not have any qualifications nor experience in this area.

            @rysiek whose hardware are you using? Direct, global, or local VAR? How many angry noises from engineering when someone says they need better data? And would they own the entire purchasing relationship?

              @rysiek
              Does “remote” in the announcement also include being present at remote locations and overseeing/receiving/testing the ordered equipment?

                @rysiek Not sure whom you are looking for , at least your job description looks garbage and lack of substance.

                Write soemthing very Black and white and to the point to get some "real people" to work ya.

                    @ohir sometimes, possibly. Very much depends on specifics of each deployment.

                    Also, calling @quad9dns for the official line. 🙂

                      @rootwyrm these are excellent questions, but they need to be answered by the org, so summoning @quad9dns into this thread. 😉

                      One thing I can say is that this is a small organization, so "engineering" would be me and two other people, and we are constantly trying to get more data to make informed decisions on where to deploy etc. So, not as much "angry noises" as "excited chatter".

                        Thanks @rysiek !

                        @ohir The position is entirely remote.  If there is a desire to go on site for certain deployments where it makes sense and is cheaper than remote hands, that could be arranged, but it is not required.

                          Thanks @rysiek !

                          @rootwyrm Hardware varies - has been Cisco in the past, HP recently, but may shift depending on cost, availability, and sponsorships. Equipment is often off-lease, though this is counter-intuitively more reliable in some cases. Purchase patterns vary. The position would own the entire purchasing relationship, though would be subject to reliability and cost metrics imposed by engineering and executive teams.
                          Hope this helps!
