@olynch it's such a great city. You could fill a weekend just walking around soaking it in and stopping at appropriate intervals for wine and cheese.
Of the big museums I've only been to the Musee d'Orsay, their impressionist collection is wonderful.
I had an outstanding meal here - tiny bistro, family feels, incredibly good food.

@olynch my favorite Muzeum is Orsay, all about impressionism, I highly recommend it! Otherwise I don't really know anything off the beaten paths.

@olynch super touristic, but for me, nothing ever beats sitting at the top of the steps at Montmartre in front of the Sacré-Cœur to watch the sunset.

@olynch Musee d'Orsay if you like Impressionism, and who doesn't?
@kralcttam @olynch was gonna suggest this,
Also the museum building itself is coolMy other recommendation is the statue of Liberty at Pont du Grenelle
-
@olynch I was truly stunned by the Arc de Triomphe. If architecture and/or monuments is even remotely interesting I cannot recommend it enough.

@olynch If you search for unusual places
You have la mouzaïa
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quartier_de_la_Mouza%C3%AFa
Or la butte bergeyre close to butte Chaumont parc. -
@olynch Musee d'Orsay if you like Impressionism, and who doesn't?
@kralcttam @olynch
It's also architecturally beautiful in its own right being a converted train station, and the Café de l'Horloge is a delight. -

@olynch I have very fond memories of the Picasso museum there! But yeah, just wandering around with the map and looking at all the buildings is a heck of a way to spend time in Paris. Stop at a random cafe and watch the old men playing bocce ball or whatever it was in the courtyard behind ... -

@olynch every year there is a ‘best baguette in Paris’ contest.
https://www.paris.fr/pages/la-meilleure-baguette-de-paris-2025-se-deguste-dans-le-10e-arrondissement-30669
You can find historic winners and see if any of the bakeries are near your other destinations. -
@olynch the Louvre is amazing but the Musee d'Orsay is also brilliant, you can see it in one go without your brain melting, and it doesn't have crowding problems like the Louvre
@davey_cakes @olynch I second this recommendation for Musée d'Orsay over the Louvre to spend more time with art than with crowds.

@olynch Any café! Experience having a mediocre croissant slammed on the table with open disdain verging on hatred
Be sure to also see the queue outside Notre Dame and then shrug and go somewhere else, like to a gold ring scammer for example.

@olynch Catacombs. Get there really early, though.

@olynch more of a recommendation on what not to do, but our whole group regretted wasting a day visiting Versailles. It's fine, but there were things in the city we didn't have time for that we collectively agreed would have been time better spent.
Also, croissants, pain du chocolate and macarons seem to get all the love in tourist sites, but if I can only get one item from a French bakery, it's a kouign-amann (pronounced queen aman). Highly recommend you get one while you're there.

@olynch Don’t think the Hôtel Salé (Picasso) was mentioned? Or the Arts er Métiers? The Musée Rodin? Les Invalides, The Musée de L’Homme?
Hanging around the Sacré Coeur in the evening? Mass in the Sacré Coeur itself, in Latin, with beutifuk choirs? Dinner in the Rue Lamarck?
+1 for the Catacombes. The Musée d’Orsay.

@olynch the crowded places are crowded for a reason, I won’t tell you not to go to the Louvre or Notre Dame but you don’t need my recommendation for them.
Good suggestions elsewhere in this thread, I will add a couple of my favorite sites of ancient Roman Paris: Musée Cluny and Arène de Lutece.
