        @ZachWeinersmith not exactly the same thing, but I bought what I consider to be my "new winter coat" in 2008. 😂

                  @ZachWeinersmith

                  I've got a couple of candidates:

                  * the new Dutch spelling of 1995 that I still disagree with

                  * Raider being renamed to Twix (1991?)

                  * Dutch primary school being renamed from "lagere (lower) school" to "basisschool", merged with kindergarten, going from group 1 to 8 (ages 4 to 12) instead of class 1 to 6 (ages 6 to 12) before. 1986, when I went from class 5 to group 8.

                      @ZachWeinersmith mostly computer stuff I guess

                      Intel Macs, though obsolete, always seem to be the new kind of Macs to me

                      Dinosaurs with feathers is always a surprise

                      Nobody sells boxed computer software anymore, but those boxes that are sized like a thick DVD case (roughly 15x20x3cm) are “the small ones” compared to the old boxes (roughly 21x25x5cm)

                            @ZachWeinersmith I'm Dutch, we switched from our old currency (the guilder) to the euro in January 2002, and I still see that as the new money.

                                @ZachWeinersmith hmm, maybe less "when it came out" and more "when it became popular/I became aware of them" but what comes to mind are SATA SSDs and 1080p displays
