what do people use LinkedIn for?

what do people use LinkedIn for?
@sean_ae to pretend to be AI spam bots, I presume.

@lislegaard @sean_ae this is an accurate assessment. In the US, you can guarantee that if you’re trying to get a job anyplace even a little corporate, this is the first place they’ll check up on you. Same with salespeople finding out about who to stalk.
@logickal @lislegaard @sean_ae it's become increasingly worthless to the point that, as a director of sales, I've gotten rid of linkedin. No one real actually looks at it. It's either skimmed poorly by AI, or an army of salesforce cadets who were all promised they'd make amazing commissions and little pay if they go and spam everyone they possibly can on linkedin with AI giving them "targets" with very unreliably accuracy. It's all just stupid. Very Microsoft, such wow.

what do people use LinkedIn for?
@sean_ae I used it to find some old work colleagues once upon a time.

what do people use LinkedIn for?
@sean_ae just a bunch of people trying to out-corpo each other from what I can tell.. was talking to my partner today how I find the concept quite morbid if that's the right word for it.. obv most socials are p rotten, but there's something really off putting in the way linkedin is designed and how interviewers look at you when you say you don't use it. Like it's a pre-requisite these days to have a polished linkedin profile to even be considered for a bunch of positions.

@ghostmeet @sean_ae That scares me a bit. Just a bit.
Besides that, quite good for connections if you work in tech too. But the LinkedIn posts are ultra cringe
