The PCR positivity map is out, and positivity is the lowest it's been in 12 months.

With flu also down to near baseline, now is the lowest-risk period we've had in a very long time.

      There are exceptions, of course.

Principal is London, where covid beds have actually been shooting up very rapidly, particularly in Hillingdon.

They've also risen rapidly in Milton Keynes.

Apart from London and MK, covid beds have been steady or declining; there's still just over 500 patients in English hospitals.

Worcestershire is still on what we'd regard as a rather high positivity, and I'd suggest there's still a good likelihood of catching it there.

          But it is declining fast.

Scotland's outlier is Dumfries & Galloway on 5.1%.

Over the border, Cumbria, York, and North Yorkshire are all showing a rise, surrounded by areas not reporting.

Anywhere north of Sheffield (also reporting a rise) is uncertain.
