I went for a truly lovely walk at the Patten Stream Preserve (a Blue Hill Heritage Trust property.) The trees are mostly quite young - the candidates for #ThickTrunkTuesday were mostly snags and moss and lichen covered stumps.
The stream was ripping from the soaking rains we'd gotten, it's waters a russet brown - leaf tea!
We were serenaded by Black and White and Black-throated Blue Warblers and a Golden Crowned Kinglet or two.

We were serenaded by Black and White and Black-throated Blue Warblers and a Golden Crowned Kinglet or two.There are lots of mosses and lichens at Patten Stream Preserve, and some of the maples were thinking about flowering, but I was delighted to find a small patch of trailing arbutus with actual blossoms. Spring!
