    @NickSchwanck @cmconseils The problem with "voting with your dollars" as they call it is that it doesn't work when everyone does the bad things. You can refuse to go to one that does a bad thing, but then you'll just have to go to another that does...

    @nazokiyoubinbou @NickSchwanck @cmconseils well, fortunately this #Enshittification hasn't reached #Germany yet.

    - And it won't because it's considered *extremely disrespecful* to fiddle on the phone whilst dining out!

      @nazokiyoubinbou

      It's been my experience that the vast majority of us simply walk around looking for ever-better choices to do their thinking for them. I can count on one hand how many people I've met who actually do their own thinking. Mostly they just regurgitate calibrated phrases put out by professional persuaders.

      If I hear something like "Sleepy Joe" out of you, I write you off as an extension of someone else's mind and, sadly, someone who lopped off a big bit of their own humanity.

      @Uair @nazokiyoubinbou propably because thinking is labourois and hard, so many prefer to outsorce their faculties to some new Oracke, like GarbageChatbot5000.

          @cmconseils Luckily I don't eat out anywhere where this is the case. Do the QR codes give them your phone # or any identifying info?

          @entichahoosh @cmconseils #QRcodes do usually lead to websites, so besides the rish of #Quishing anything can be done, including #InfoStealing everyone's details they enter!

                  @Uair @paulehoffman it depends on the model & producer.

                  Besides, a proper menu folder isn't expensive and prevents #quishing attacks!

                    @Uair @cmconseils As a human without a mobile phone, I am starting to run into this... I walked away from an airport restaurant because they only had the QR thingy.

                    "I don't have a mobile, can you give me a real menu?"

                    They look at me like I'm an alien and shrug. "Nope". (I'm sure they had them, they were just being lazy.)

                    So I went to a different massively-overpriced restaurant!

                    @asmaloney @Uair @cmconseils If a restaurant can't be assed to put their menu on a shitty screen, chalkboard or elsewhere signposted then they certainly ain't worth the money they ask for.

                    All this #QRcode bullshit does is allow #pricing #discrimination and #Quishing

                                @cmconseils Nope. I like it. Can order when I’m ready. Don’t have to wait/signal waiter for when I finally get my bill and can leave at my own terms. And don’t get judged for what I order or don’t order. Find the conventional restaurant setting always a bit prisonesque - from the moment you sit down you are at their mercy. Not with the QR codes.

                                    @grumpydad @cmconseils was at the dentist yesterday and you had to scan qr to get to website to register parking.
                                    Annoying but not too problematic for many, until an elderly man whom hardly even understood phone cameras. Luckily the staff was friendly but still it just shows needless problematic the process is.
                                    These processes should never exists. There's no need for them. If they truly need to control parking that way, a cheap tablet in reception already hooked into the website would work just as fine. I hate tech more and more each day.

                                      I ate in a restaurant about a year ago that had a QR code to scan to see the menu on your phone. Trouble is my phone would not scan their QR code for some reason. They had no printed menus and did not know the web address that the QR code was supposed to send me. Technology fail.

                                          Agreed. If a restaurant's menu is ONLY available via QR code, that means they didn't want to bother cleaning their menus. If they can't be bothered to do THAT, what ELSE are they not cleaning?

                                          However, if restaurants offer physical menus with an OPTION to see a digital menu via QR code, I appreciate that. Those can be updated easily, be better to read, and cleaner. I don't completely trust restaurants or their previous visitors.
