        @mcc No. Pretty confident it indeed takes that many programs to be that terrible. You wouldn't be able to do it with just one. A raw kernel that boots up to nothing couldn't do anywhere near the same level of damage nor cause the same amount of frustration. Trying to integrate enough into one monolithic program would cause it to fail cascade too soon I think.

        In other words, no...it's several and has to be.

              @mcc Windows 10 is probably the worst version in my experience. I recall windows XP and 2000 as the best ones. Windows Vista was also terrible.

                  @mcc honestly Windows has fallen so far back in the last few years, I prefer ChromeOS or Fedora over it.

                            @mcc It is pretty sad.

                            In 2015, Windows acknowledged a 30 Year Anniversary. After missteps with Windows 8, also announces Windows 10 being a free upgrade for all Windows Vista, 7 and 8 users.

                            The question: right now nobody will celebrate a 50th anniversary of Windows (the 40th was last November, did anyone notice), but with Microsoft renaming everything as CoPilot, will Windows even exist by then?

                            @Tock @mcc they certainly have deteriorated, is it not the case that copilot has been designated as "just for gaming" due to its abysmal quality?

                                  @rsada @mcc well, after getting rid of the built-in spyware and ending all Windows updates, and refusing extended support,10 is finally stable. No more crashes since October 24th of last year.

                                  Which is what a lot of us who didn't bother with extended support kind of expected to happen.

                                    @mcc its been 25 years and files still get locked, forcing you to restart to release the lock, so you can delete or rename the file.

                                    You decide.

                                      @mcc on a scale from 1 (really bad) to 10 (really good), how likely bad is it? I haven't used it since 1997.

                                          Sure, that’s possible — Windows is basically a pile of 512 kB memoirs that never learned how to clean up after themselves.
