@richarddebruin @helloclippy @jfr_1980 @@keepandroidopen No, what we did is speak out against two blatant scams focused on maximizing profit.

Supporting a company which spent 8 years closely working with Putin's regime starting AFTER they invaded Ukraine is a strange way of supporting Europe. Until very recently they were nearly majority owned by a Russian state enterprise. It's still the same management who own and run the company today. They're not anti-authoritarian at all.

@richarddebruin @jfr_1980 @Pizzasquidwithatophat @keepandroidopen Fairphone's devices aren't only manufactured for them in China but rather nearly all of the development of the hardware and software is done there. Fairphone does little of the engineering themselves. That's vastly different from Pixels and iPhones despite those being manufactured in China. They're capable of switching to another manufacturer while Fairphone doesn't have control of their own products in that sense.

@richarddebruin @helloclippy @jfr_1980 @keepandroidopen The article you've linked is a very poor attempt at justifying the fact that they worked with Russia for 8 years following the invasion of Ukraine. They spent years directly working with an authoritarian regime run in the style of mafia organization. SailfishOS was developed in partnership with Russia. Russia didn't start attacking Ukraine in 2022 but rather 2014. Crimea and Donbass being part of Ukraine wasn't disputed by Russia pre-2014.

@richarddebruin @helloclippy @jfr_1980 @keepandroidopen Downplaying choosing to closely work with an authoritarian regime invading a European country by claiming it was only in disputed territories prior to 2022 is absolute nonsense. GrapheneOS wouldn't even consider working with the Canadian government let alone working with Putin. Jolla has no values beyond money and that shows in how they've provided a platform on their own websites for blatant harassment of our team rather than stopping it.

@richarddebruin @helloclippy @jfr_1980 @keepandroidopen Jolla worked with Putin's regime as he was killing off dissidents and illegally occupying large parts of a European country. Jolla's management hasn't changed to another group of people. It's the same people who have no issue closely working with authoritarians as it was before. They can try branding themselves as being for privacy and for Europe now but it rings hollow when the truth about their values is very easy to find.

@helloclippy @jfr_1980 @keepandroidopen It's not surprising to see someone with an online identity based around content from a prominent Kiwi Farmer is making disingenous attacks on our project and team. We're going to continue countering the dishonest claims about us with factual information. You're trying and failing to misdirect away from it.

                    From your bio:

                    > I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community

Meanwhile, you support Kiwi Farmers and their attacks on us:

@jfr_1980 @lineageos @keepandroidopen Pixels are currently the only available devices providing reasonable security combined with proper alternate OS support. That's why those are the only devices we currently support. There are companies in Europe such as NitroKey selling phones with them which are not partnered with us and we aren't involved in it but it's permitted by the open source licensing. Our OEM partnership is a much different thing since the devices are being improved to support it.

@Andromxda Fairphone not honest? Read their impact report (chapter 7.8.1, the rest is also nice to read) https://www.fairphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Fairphone-Impact_Report-27-May.pdf

@GrapheneOS Could you elaborate on this part or provide a link if it is already described in more detail somewhere?

What do Pixels have that any other mainstream device with LineageOS support does not?

@Paralhax LineageOS doesn't fully keep up with Android updates and privacy/security patches. It also doesn't fully keep the Android privacy/security model fully intact. It's not a privacy or security focused project in the same way. It's a downgrade from AOSP rather than a major upgrade. It's not rolling them back nearly as much as something like /e/ but it's still doing it. LineageOS lacks real security requirements for devices and on most don't have regular kernel, driver or firmware updates.
