It sounds like the suspected WHCD "shooter," while armed, never fired a single shot and obviously never got close to Trump or anyone else. The only shooters appear to be the Secret Service, with one case of friendly fire and every other shot missing the suspect.

The DOJ appears very keen to obfuscate this, though.

Is the Justice Department lying about Saturday's "shooting"?

A central point of the government's case doesn't add up.

It may not make much of a difference for the suspect's case but I'm reminded of how the state and federal overreaction to the UHC CEO shooting caused them to botch multiple elements of their case against Mangione.

@gwynnion I'm still confused as to why they took his shirt off.

@gwynnion The only folks who can benefit from a shoddy "attack" are the folks able to overreact to it with outsized, imperious responses.

Anyone who actually intended to succeed would have failed in less stupid ways, and DOJ would be falling over itself to tell that story to show off their prowess. Nothing a politician loves to do more than crow when they did something "right."

@gwynnion I've watched that video where he runs through the checkpoint several times and the incompetency is amazing. The person he was running directly at appears to have his gun drawn while the guy leaning appears to have no idea what's happening. Did they not communicate? Why did the guy with the gun drawn not shoot? He had a clear shot and I think someone charging the checkpoint and not responding is more than sufficient reason for lethal force.

And now to hear that all the shots were from the security forces, AND they shot one of their own? I can't say I have direct experience in a live fire situation, but this sounds crazy.

@XenoPhage Like, a moderately experienced club bouncer would have clotheslined the guy at the checkpoint.
