@evawolfangel I wish they'd get serious #GDPR fines and be forced to reimburse everyone's costs and damages to change these and the harm caused by said #DataBreach.

      • Cuz #LackOfAccountability & #LackOfConsequences embolden companies to not take #ITsec & #InfoSec serious…

@evawolfangel Well good luck that no train staff bothered to check your Interrail ticket too closely then.

Seriously, what of those data items do you consider "secret"? Do you ever travel to countries where you need to show your passport or ID when checking in at a hotel, and they scan it?

Note: I am not saying that the data breach was not serious. It was.

@tml @evawolfangel the passport number is freaking sensitive. My private address is freakibg sensitive if *I* feel it is, not when someone else feels it is (I mean you).
When I show my passport at a hotel, the recptionist doesn't keep a copy of it's number to lose it later on, but only checks I'm who I claim to be.

your reply is as baseless as it is unkind.

@evawolfangel huh, that notification happened to me much earlier this year. Are they late to admit you're also affected, incredibly late to realize, or is this the same party in an unremedied ongoing breach?

@funkylab @evawolfangel In hotels in some countries passports/IDs are scanned and stored to be given to the police. Happens at least in Italy. I doubt anything prevents the hotel staff from making unauthorized copies of the scanned passport/ID images and give to criminals that pay them for the information.

              I agree about home address.

@evawolfangel here's when they contacted me.

would you mind asking their contact whether this is the same leak as back in January or whether this is a new one? I am personally interested since I've entered new personal data since then.

@tml @evawolfangel yes, but the scans aren't kept in large cebtraluzed databases.again, all of this data is very sensitive to me and I expect hotels just as much as eurail to treat it better than that.

@funkylab It’s the same leak, they say. This was just an update sent today.
