Posting this publically as I am tired of explaining it to people who should be able to work it out themselves.
The California age API is not just a general age indicator, an app running daily can see the exact day a child moves between two classes of age so it leaks exact date of birth to apps and anyone they share that info with in future. An app with a reasonable child user base will be collecting accurate DoB info at quite a rate

Also means GDPR matters.
