    @wcbdata @itsfoss Why it's Nazi? I'm out of context.

      @micdan @wcbdata @itsfoss
      Brave's CEO is a total POS, and Brave as a platform has done morally questionable things throughout its development:

      Link Preview Image
      Stop using Brave Browser

      Seriously.

      The Spacebar (www.spacebar.news)

      That being said, Friefox using a piece of open source software where we can all audit the product I don't think is aweful. I stopped using Brave because fuck Brave, admittedly not because Brave's adblocking sucked.

        @Huubje @itsfoss Importantly (as long as there's still support for the type of extensions we currently have support for), nothing stops you from using your normal ad blocker.

              @n4ch1sm0 @micdan @wcbdata @itsfoss I agree that the people behind Brave aren’t exactly trustworthy, but if the code is open-source, what’s the problem?

              I’m not an expert on this subject and can’t judge the quality of uBlock/adblock-rust or what it means for the future of Firefox

                    @Distante I'm mostly concerned about supporting a project led by that particular individual and his friends. Maybe fork it and leave it Mozilla-owned? Dump the original project?

                      @wcbdata @itsfoss at the end of the day, it's better to use it because it works, then ridicule it because it came from immoral people. I wouldn't throw away knowledge about treatment for hypothermia just because the most beneficial "research" came from German Nazis.

                          @itsfoss If you're still using firefox, but complain about brave being ethically questionable, you should probably look a little closer at the Mozilla Foundation.

                          I personally prefer LibreWolf or Ungoogled-Chromium. It's still unfortunately downstream of firefox/chrome, but finding a functional modern browser that isn't is near impossible.
