    @benroyce
    Ce qui me débecte toujours, c'est que le *seul* pays anglo-saxon européen est sorti de l'UE, ah non, il reste l'Irlande, mais que les patins bruxéliens qui pourtant bénéficient de tout ce qu'on peut imaginer comme services de traduction simultanée, se croient obligés de continuer à s'exprimer en anglais ...

    @RocknRoll_Papy

    all it takes for communication to happen is that everyone agrees on a lingua franca

    the problem is, once that decision has been made, and people gravitate towards that common solution, the raison d'etre is set in stone

    it's a fait accompli

      @benroyce Lets not forget Fico from Slovenia, which already told everyone he will take up the banner of 'massive piece of shit' from Orban, in case he loses the election in Hungary soon.

      if orban loses next month, fico's probably licking his lips waiting for all that glorious kremlin doting and attention

        Curieusement, ce soi-disant problème est signalé sans exception par des Français. L'espagnol ou l'italien me semblent toutefois plus appropriés que le français après l'anglais.

          @Robo105 @benroyce bad deal. Belgium? They appear to want to. Well, half of it then.

            It's still important though to make a big deal of it, to highlight what a massive piece of shit Orban is

            @benroyce I don’t believe this is how it works. At EU-level many “leaders” (warning: protofascist framing) have committed, yet on the national level resist, blaming the EU for all things unpopular with the alt right, other xenophobes and racists, and other useful idiots.

            I NL, the gang leader of the real power in the Dutch govt, Lyin’ Dilan, has already ruled out extending Ukraine support. Idiots, useful.

                @benroyce That 90bd was additional to the already allocated national support programs. These national programs will not automatically expand in case of EU obstruction by a Putin machination.

                  well we're both wrong

                  you're wrong because the money is still getting to Ukraine, delayed, with some sort of Alternative Spending (Plan B) loan

                  and i'm wrong because yes it won't be individual countries making loans

                        Ils peuvent parler comme ils le veulent entre eux, dans leurs conversations de vive voix, en tête à tête ou en visio-conf. Mais là, elle est en train de faire une déclaration officielle en tant que présidente de la Commission européenne et je ne comprends pas qu'elle (Macron c'est pareil) se sente obligée de le faire autrement qu'en allemand.

                          C’est une relique de l’histoire. L’anglais en est venu à dominer le monde. Je vous parle depuis la terre qui aime encore Lafayette — simplement pour dire : c’est ainsi.

                              Seriously though, English is actually the easiest language for all Romance-speaking native speakers to learn as a second language. This has nothing to do with nationalism—it’s purely practical. And you know that, so what’s the point?
