    Last month, the EU Council wanted to push through voluntary scanning. But they failed! πŸŽ‰

    However, the trilogue discussions on Chat Control 2.0 start this Thursday. But #ChatControl is a Trojan Horse for citizens and businesses in Europe. Interestingly, not everyone should be monitored:

        @Tutanota Voluntary scanning was allowed for a while already, under some specific program. That program expires in 2026, hence the renewed push to replace it with either mandatory scanning or refreshing the expired program.

          @Tutanota They will keep trying, until one day our guards are down and they succeed in the mandatory handover of our identity to the billionaires. Real identities are of incredible value to them. Are these people bought by billionaires, or what?

            @Tutanota Every Western gov't is corrupted by this desire to control its citizenry. It exhibits their weakness and lack of faith in their own system of gov't (that they do not practice or believe in). And they're our rulers!

                    @connynasch

                    Email providers scanning traffic for spying purposes in general, under cover of "voluntary scans for CSAM".

                    This was why some big NGOs were heavily pushing for the voluntary scheme to be made mandatory.

                    @Tutanota

                      @Tutanota if you guys are really a "privacy" company you would accept Monero as payment or at least Bitcoin.
