This is a real timelapse video of the Moon transiting in front of the Earth.

It was captured by the Artemis 1 Orion spacecraft in November 2022 while flying at it's furthest point from the Earth.
The video covers about 3.75 hours of real time.

Here is an even faster version where you can nicely see the Earth rotating. Before the transit you can see the West coast of Africa, after the transit South America has rotated into view.

The link will show the scene in NASA's Eyes on the Solar System.

Here is another amazing picture that was taken shortly after the timelapse. It was captured by a modified GoPro that was attached to one of the solar arrays of the European Service Module.
I hope we'll be getting similarly amazing views from Artemis II (even if it won't be as far away).

It took considerable effort to process this video because the original version was stabilized quite badly, resulting in a lot of apparent warping. There was also a bit of flickering around the edges, presumably from debayering that I tried to correct as best as possible.

The mission landed twelve days later giving us another very spectacular video from the reentry.
