    @ireneista @old_angry_queer

    last time i pulled one of those out, it was in there real snug. when it finally came loose the rest of the tube snapped back from the tension i had inadvertently applied to it and I flung a half dozen chips all over the room.

      I don't know who needs to hear this (the answer is probably no one Cameron) but the easiest way to close the end of IC tubes like this is to just take an xacto knife and make a tiny cut like this. Then you can press in or out the corner to make a toggleable door, no keeping track of little plastic pegs or tape required

      @old_angry_queer legend, thank you so much!!

      tip in return: the best way to cut these is with a good bread knife (serrated, ideally thin)

          @old_angry_queer I definitely did not need to hear this, but I'm glad I did all the same.

            @old_angry_queer pretty sure my dad used to cut two longitudinal slits into the middle of the end end, and just bend the the resulting tab up/down as needed.

              @old_angry_queer Wow, I know I've seen this technique somewhere else before! I think I have a tube of op-amps somewhere. I should donate those to the maker space.

                  @old_angry_queer every eBay chip seller needs to see this, they must give out special extra-residue tape or something, horrible…

                      Now that's convenient, thanks for pointing that trick out.
                      Much better than the piece of tape I have been using.
