@parismarx all I can hear is "Let people have nice things! If a rational actor wants go into crippling debt by gambling away all their savings, we should let them. In fact, we should encourage it. It's just human nature!" (I've read Addiction By Design recently, and boy, is there a very clear pipeline from gambling machine design to Big Tech!)

@parismarx “because I hate the silence of downtown LA” is a hell of dependent clause in any context, but this particular one “I also like to listen to background noise all day” is a doozy. So much to unpack there, but I think I would rather leave that in its box where it can be contained safely.
