    @kinsale42 @GayDeceiver

It was Nero's persecution of early Christians that got Revelations written.

@kinsale42 @GayDeceiver Tha Latin 'rapio' is Vulgata's 4th century tranlation of the Greek 'harpazo', meaning 'to snatch, to carry away'. – This is the word used in the Thessalonians quoted above.

Personally, I would much prefer to be spirited away by the Japanese gods in the Miyazaki's anime.

Nope. John Nelson Darby created it in the 1800s, after he had a fall and a knocked his nogging real hard.

The worst thing the powerful, old, white men ever did with religion was convince others they couldn't find divinity within themselves - because humans are 'too broken' - and that the divine can only be found externally.

At least, that's what the mushrooms told me. 🍄✌️

To be fair, a lot of the early followers apparently thought their boy Josh was coming back soon.

People are suckers for stories in which someone overcomes something, and if that person is clever enough to invoke The Devine Whatever, they start flocking to that person.

I didn't even knew about it. (But I'm a french catholic.)

And "Sodom and Gomorrah" being a "proof that homosexuality is a sin" was inserted around the same time by a new Bible translation. In Germany if I remember correctly.

                          It is really recent.

Before that, the sin of Sodom and Gomorra was systematical rape of foreigners by big groups of men of the city. On men, women and children.

I personally think the mix up between "homosexuality" and "pedophilia" started at the same time, allowing the "mistranslation".

(and witch hunts started at the Rennaissance, witches were generally tolerated by the church in the middle age)

It's weird that the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah got so blatantly rewritten and people just accepted it, because Ezekiel addresses those sins more explicitly:

Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.

It’s like 90% of what is presented as ‘traditional’ ‘biblical’ christianity: invented and solidified in the last century or so.

every “ancient tradition” was invented between 1848-1870 and every “modern perversion” is so ancient as to predate writing

Curb your enthusiasm, this is a non sexual rapture.

We only get one sexual rapture every 99 years. Sorry but I don't make the rules.
