    MORT GARSON
    Journey To The Moon And Beyond
    2023 U.S. Ltd. Edition pressing
    “Mars Colored” vinyl

    A case of the Monday weirds.

    Mort Garson was a genius.
    Although he’s most known for his PLANTASIA album, his entire discography is just stellar.

    THIS is super-fun.
    It compiles the soundtrack to the 1974 blaxploitation film BLACK EYE, as well as some unearthed (and unused) pieces of music created for various advertisements.

    There’s also a few pieces from a 1970 National Geographic special (the album opener “Zoos Of The World”), but the most captivating stuff here is Garson’s soundtrack to the live 1969 broadcast of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
    It’s friggin GLORIOUS.

    Load up your bongs, man.
    It’s time to go to space.

    Just an awesome and totally unique collection.

    Also came with a huge poster and pamphlet for all of the Mort merch via Sacred Bones.

      @TheVinylApe @alisynthesis The reissue happened because music producer and archivist Andy Zax found the master tape in Rod McKuen’s archive. Artwork by Robert Beatty (aka Ed Sunspot, Three Legged Race, and erstwhile member of Hair Police).

        @TheVinylApe
        Sacred Bones have signed some cool artists, but they don't include download codes with the vinyl if you don't buy it through Bandcamp.

          @soundclamp @alisynthesis yeah I read that. I’m glad they found it man, cuz it’s awesome.
          Particularly the Apollo 11 piece.
