Russia has recently been sending weapons to Iran, which is certainly better than attacking Ukraine with them.

Also, it's driving a wedge between Trump and Putin.

Not that that's justifying a war on Iran, but the side effects on Ukraine do seem slightly positive to me.

@schmaker I agree that may have some impact. But while his conflict with Iran may help Ukraine indirectly, his removal of all US weapons support to Ukraine is helping Russia a thousand fold.

@mcv one could get the feeling, that the US military brass is deliberately bringing him suggestions they know will make Trump feel all powerful, but at the same time helps destroy his Putin relationship.

However in my view, protecting the free world is a shared responsibility. And as soon as the US ends up in a direct conflict with China, Trump will absolutely demand we see that as a shared responsibility too. Just like Bush did with Iraq and Afghanistan.

@schmaker @randahl I have friends from Iran and they ling time ago told me, thats best think that can happen to their country is to be attacked from US. One of them was beaten on university several years ago in IRAN by police, now living in exile in Europe. So I think the most important will be to see how normal Iranians will accept this and I have feeling no one there will go voluntarily help to Islamic regime.

@schmaker @schmaker @randahl it might, but if the result is another war in the Middle East (Pakistan is already at war with Afghanistan, Israel is spreading in Syria and has plans on Lebanon etc), the total result may well be much more war.
