@MaryAustinBooks We have lots of Canada Geese here and I can offer two possibilities, not mutually exclusive:

β—‹ Canada Geese aren't smart enough to read, but they are smart enough to realize that coyote hasn't moved in over two weeks.

β—‹ Some Canada Geese aren't afraid of moving SUVs. A mere coyote? Ha!

@MaryAustinBooks Scarecrows and other similar things have to be moved every two or three days, farmers and gamekeepers used to know this.

@MaryAustinBooks I like how the fake coyote sign is outside the fake coyote's field of vision, so as not to exacerbate the fake coyote's crippling impostor syndrome.

@MaryAustinBooks @briankrebs At Bell Labs Holmdel, they decided to use some artificial ponds as part of the heat exchange system for the air conditioners. The geese found those heated ponds lovely, but their droppings clogged the intake filters. Management responded by deploying fake swans. Guess how well that worked?

Once lived in an apartment complex with a big pond with a fountain spray thing. Ducks loved it, but some of the residents got the idea the ducks were a health hazard. After multiple community meetings and at least two complex wide votes it was decided to remove the ducks. A firm was hired, the ducks were trapped and taken fifty miles away across the coastal mountain range and released...

You guessed it. The ducks were back before nightfall. πŸ¦†
