@davidaugust @Njord The US isn't above using fasces in iconography (although it did, for obvious reasons, fall out of favor after the fascists showed up).
You'll find it popping up from time-to-time, especially in the era immediately after the Constitution when people were thinking about the US as a New Athens or New Rome.
