‘"Hey, I'm sorry, I absolutely support killing, you know, the leadership of the Iranian. Absolutely. I absolutely support that," Fetterman said. "I think that's entirely appropriate until hopefully they'll pick someone that realizes that they need to live and coexist in peace in the region and stop trying to destroy Israel and to stabilize the region."’ 4/

Apart from whether Fetterman is urging possible violation of the UN Charter, to which the U.S. is a signatory, Fetterman’s views about the acceptability of a country taking military action to assassinate another country’s leader for destabilizing a region seems particularly odd for Senator whose own country’s President has destabilized that country’s region. 5/

Donald Trump has destabilized the region from Greenland to Venezuela and Ecuador. By Fetterman’s reasoning, any country in the region, along with its allies in other regions, may justifiedly assassinate Trump, including by use of military force. 6/6

@heidilifeldman What a monster we have created in him. I really hope the Democratic Party is willing to pull all support for him. Reality gets so blurred by visuals of which seats are blue or red when in truth, what’s the difference in this case? He should be forced to change affiliation by way of no funding for re-election.

@CdnCurmudgeon @heidilifeldman Fetterman should serve as a cautionary tale for fans of Graham Platner (who really should be his own cautionary tale) and other "working class" (though that's often defined by presentation rather than actual socioeconomic background) white and white-adjacent dudes who are relentlessly being marketed as the future of the Democratic Party if we just calm down about actual civil rights for women and minorities and focus on chasing white male votes that count more.

@heidilifeldman Fetterman died when he had that stroke. If he was alive to see it, I bet he'd wish the fucking zombie in his corpse would give out too.

@heidilifeldman PA needs to recall Fetterman. He is not now the guy they elected. I was all-in on him, but he changed after the stroke. I hope Connor Lamb runs against him again. I think he can beat him this time.

@heidilifeldman I understand at the top of the thread you speak of a "view", but this statement is not a view, it's just nonsense. So either this is just the garbled nonsense they believe, or they don't want to achieve any kind of settlement under any circumstances and just want to kill as many Iranians as they can before the bombs run out (arguably, running out of bombs is the primary objective because what better way to bring about the Apocalypse than that).

It seems you may be unfamiliar with #JohnFetterman

#Fetterman suffered a stroke during the 2022 campaign that got him elected, and has permanent implanted device assistance since

Fetterman has always been a bit of a loose cannon; since his stroke he has been consistently erratic in his political statements, to the point where one could reasonably feel he simply doesn't know *where* he stands

All that said, Fetterman has consistently moved right, and as a political weather vane spins to the right far more than any other direction

Some claim he's trying to be edgy and contrarian; others (myself) see him as merely addled and confused

                    IMO, YMMV...

The level of irony in that statement is enough to cause nutrient poisoning.

The semantic content: the region will have peace and coexistence in the region when we decide to stop calling them violent.

@heidilifeldman And if we (and Israel) keep killing people in Iran until someone in the administration is satisfied with the body count, we’re committing more genocide. #warcrimes

‘When Bolduan pushed further on the issue, asking Fetterman who should decide the leader of Iran "if you think the United State should take part in taking out every next leader going forward" if the leader doesn't meet the right measure, he responded by saing he "absolutely" supports killing the leadership of Iran.’ 3/

@heidilifeldman Fetterman has not been well for quite some time, apparently.

@FinchHaven I did, but I indeed can't quite grasp it. Like, how can that even be the case. How is nobody able to do anything about that.

@meuwese @FinchHaven The only sure way to rid ourselves of a mentally deficient politician is to vote him out of office. He could be expelled by the Senate but it's been 150 years since that has happened. It requires a two thirds vote, an impossibility in the current Senate.
I once supported him, but he has changed radically. Best case scenario is that he would voluntarily retire before his term ends in 2029.
                                        Chances are slim to none.

@heidilifeldman Fetterman is the best Repugnican of all the Democrats.

@CdnCurmudgeon @heidilifeldman Someone had to step in the role emptied by Manchin and Sinema when they quit. Fetterman just enthusiastically dove in headfirst.
