    Rainy day here in Humboldt.
    I managed the grocery shopping this morning and was shocked to see that the coffee we buy has doubled in price since my last purchase.
    Yikes.
    I'm not sure about how that relates to the constant political banter about affordability. The bottom line is that everything is more expensive and whether things are affordable depends on the choices I make. I prefer plain language when it comes to these things. We either spend more or make do with less. It really is that simple.
    Summer and I decided that getting outside for a walk would be worth the soaking and a healthy distraction.
    The beach was all ours.
    No surprise.
    We are still drying out but happy.

      @NorcalGma2

      The thing that frustrates me most about higher food prices, is that they never seem to go back down. There's never a glut of coffee or beef that suddenly drops prices back to where they were 12 months ago.

      A couple weeks ago, I decided to buy a whole roasting chicken: $16 at Aldi, $12 at Walmart... for a chicken!?

      I did some Vegetarian time in college... may be time to take another swing at that?

          @chessert
          Most of the meat I buy is for Summer. She has turned out to be an expensive housemate.
          I often cook meat for my husband and Summer and I eat an alternative.
          Lucky for me that I prefer other types of protein.
          These are challenging times for so many reasons.
