    @miah The idea of immigrating is overwhelming. Every time I try and start working on thinking about it too seriously, I get so panicked about it all I collapse into a depression spiral.

    @JessTheUnstill I've moved cross country and re-established myself so many times. I've finally found a home, and chosen family. Just the thought of moving to another country and leaving them fills me with endless grief.

      @JessTheUnstill

      I am in Canada and still need to change my legal name. We have an X here but I'm terrified to put the X on mine, both for international travel and future fear. It shouldn't have to feel like this. Sending love and support.

        @RobotDiver For everyone who says "don't worry we're a safe country" I just do a quick search and find how their far right parties are increasingly gaining seats, and say "you too are one election away from being the US under Trump."

              @faithisleaping @CordiallyChloe sorry I know. It's just ... Even allies or other trans people will say "well how would they know, they can't do background checks on everyone". They didn't have to do background checks on all the Jews in Germany either.

              @JessTheUnstill @faithisleaping

              The dismissiveness from cishet people is infuriating.

              "Well nobody looks at that anyway" Actually some do! And more will, now that this is being politicized and company notes are being sent out about it!

              "It doesn't actually prevent you from going anywhere" Yes it does! It's going to keep me out of bathrooms for sure, but it'll also stop me from going *anywhere* that is currently unsafe for trans people!

              "Well all your documents are updated, so how will they even know?" 1) Literally databases exist. 2) What about all the trans people who are mid-change? Or haven't come out yet? Do they not matter?

              "Does it really matter that much?" Yes, it fucking does! I'm a woman! That matters TO ME! Don't pretend you wouldn't care if that information was wrong on your ID!

                @CordiallyChloe @faithisleaping You get to make the decision:
                Do I continue to use my old ID and risk getting caught and put in men's prison
                Do I change my ID to the wrong gender, out myself every time I show it, and get myself DEFINITELY added to The List

                  @JessTheUnstill @RobotDiver this is why we all need to stick together.

                  They thought trans folks would be an easy target but we can't get them get that wedge.

                  Every time we let them get away with a missgendering it's one step closer to the gas chambers for everyone they don't like.

                  Every time a trans person see's something threatening they need to see 10 or 20 cis folks (of all genders, ages, sexualities and abilities) standing shoulder to shoulder with them as a community.

                        That's why I fled to Mexico already. I figured every day I waited was another day where they could declare my passport invalid with no way to fix it.
