      @killyourfm Good mileage, decent room inside… can you pop out the rear seats?

        @drdirtbag YES, but I'm leaving them intact in case any backpackers I stumble across ever need a hitch. (Or my Mom and her dog want to go to Yosemite again...)

          I'm 50 years old, and this is the first time I've ever worked with wood. Wow, I was missing out. This is SATISFYING. The build is coming along great! More updates tomorrow.

            @killyourfm

            I legitimately thought this was a toy race car, and was going to write about it. I think that tells you how much of a wood worker/power tool operator I am -____-

                  @killyourfm when we had our farm, I loved creating/working on outbuildings for our critters. Satisfying indeed.

                          @killyourfm love to see you protecting your eyes - we only get the two, if we're lucky.

                          That style often fogs up on me, I've had better luck with the sunglass style ones, they're a better fit to my face.

                          Enjoy it! Oh, and watch out for the tablesaw, that thing wants to eat fingers.

                                    The Kia Soul adventure build is finished! The final touch was wrapping it with some carpeting.

                                    What I love about this setup is the drop screws connecting the two platforms. It's a piece of cake to just lift them out and move the top platform to the back, allowing me to use the back seats.

                                    Today I'll be trimming the "mattress" to size - a 1.5 inch piece of gel infused memory foam, and a 3 inch piece of high density foam.

                                    After that: ADVENTURE!

                                      @killyourfm when I had my Citroen C2 GT I always had a vague idea to take the passenger seat out and build a bed (the whole interior was barely long enough for me to lie down in) but instead I just ended up sleeping in the driver's seat when I was off adventuring

                                        Today I'll be trimming the "mattress" to size - a 1.5 inch piece of gel infused memory foam, and a 3 inch piece of high density foam.

                                        After that: ADVENTURE!

                                        @killyourfm very nice! That's what I got a Subaru for. But I still need to get that setup .

                                          @TTimo *Nods* Jealous of your Subaru, but grateful for my Kia 🙂 I'm 5'7" so thankfully I JUST fit in a comfortable sleeping position. Someone tall, though, could easily fit in a diagonal position with this "3 quadrant" build which is why I like it. Some decent storage underneath the platforms, too!
