    the advice i needed was never “live every day as if it was your last”. it was “live every day as if you had to live for another 50 years” that would have been more useful.

    @lzg

    Life is long. Sometimes doubly so.

      @lzg I think it’s generally helpful to see the long view.

        Right? I used to say not "life is short" but "life is too long to be miserable". Anyone can stand a certain amount of discomfort for a short while, but contemplating 50 more years if misery is good motivation to change.

            @lzg unfortunately, some of us don't have another 50 years so we are left with the former. Fortunately, that means my best life has been lived since my MS diagnosis 13 years ago.

                      @lzg or even better, "live every day as if everyone else has to live with you for another 50 years"...

                          @lzg it feels particularly weird to have messed up in both those ways somehow, at the same time.

                          ah well. the consolation prize for accidentally surviving is we get to live and learn.

                            @lzg In my case, never thought that my life could be anything but the flat scene it was, accesibility influences the desicions, as well as information.
