    @oblomov

    I can't tell if you are joking or not, but the Venn diagram of people going the hardest for generative "AI" and cryptobros is shockingly close to a perfect circle.

    Imagine how much better things would be if all those people were kicked out? Although now that I am re-reading what you wrote, I think you are suggesting there was no consequence for them then, and there will probably be none when the bubble bursts too.

    Sorry for the lack of original understanding!

    @sauc3 I'm not joking, I'm pointing out that these grifters just jump from grift to grift with great ease and no damage. Society has failed to build antibodies against this kind of behavior.

          @sauc3 let's cry on each other's shoulder for the pain of seeing things happen and knowing how they will end yet being unable to do anything to stop it.

            Yeah, to quote the old line from Shadowrun, "null sweat, chummer"! I just didn't think through fully what you were originally suggesting.

            Hope you have an awesome day!

              I believe in the Butterly effect, and I think if enough of us reject generative "AI" that we can win.

              Maybe I'm just a foolish optimist, but I prefer to have hope and will for a better future.

              For now, I'm off to go tilt at more windmills 🙂

                @sauc3 I'm more of a fatalist in the sense that I believe things go in cycles, so the world as a whole will recover at some point in the future, but I can't guarantee it'll happen in my lifetime —but I'm not going to let that get in the way of doing my own thing without getting dragged into these grifts 8-)

                    When the bubble bursts, do you think the people who grifted for generative "AI" are going to be given a scarlet letter and kicked out of the industry? Or do you think they will just move on to the next scam, like nothing happened?

                    I suspect it's the latter, but it sure would be nice if all those people who went super hard for the con suffered some kind of consequence for that decision.

                    @sauc3 Either the next scam, or government bailout, or both.

                      Oh, I didn't even think about a bailout, which seems super obvious to happen at least in the United States of America.
