I've seen a few people say "eating vegetables that have fat and salt and stuff on them isn't healthy" and it just makes me want to bang my head into a wall.

@gsuberland fat and salt and stuff isn't per se unhealthy either.
Dose makes the poison.
Leaving a whole component/building block out of your diet is arguably just as unhealthy -

@dysfun @gsuberland also, 1) many nutrients are fat soluable, and cannot be freed otherwise; 2) uncooked vegetables are often less nutrient recoverable because of the unbroken cell awalls.
People are just stupid, and should be ignored most of the time. *Especially* when it's about diet/health.

@gsuberland Yes!
A colleague of mine told me that there’s more vegetables in the average döner than the average German eats in a day. So döner is healthy! Not the healthiest, of course, but it’s an improvement.
So now I eat my kebab guilt-free.

like sure don't eat mountains of salt and fat but there's absolutely no way that pie and chips is a healthier meal than pie and oven-roasted carrots and tenderstem broccoli, and if slathering them in fat and salt is what makes you want to eat the latter then by all means slather away. enjoy life!
